St. Columbkille Parish - Allston Brighton
St. Columbkille Parish in Brighton, MA is named after Ireland's St. Columbkille. Born in 521, Columb was born to a wealthy family in Donegal where he used his high position in society to serve God to "go and make disciples." He opened 27 Irish monasteries and 40 churches by the time he was 27 years of age. The church gave his Gaelic name Columb, meaning "dove," the "kille" meaning church. Thus Columb became known as Columbkille. This Catholic Church in a very Irish Boston neighborhood is going to be the latest in the Boston Landing buildings I've decided to capture in watercolor.
